Radiant Intersection of Summer Solstice and Learning

As the Northern Hemisphere welcomes the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, we also step into the summer season, a period astrologically symbolizing nurturing, family, and emotional depth.  The abundance of sunlight during this time has a profound impact on various aspects of life, including personal learning and well-being.

### The Summer Solstice: A Time of Maximum Light

The summer solstice is a natural phenomenon and occurs when one of the Earth's poles has maximum tilt toward the Sun and brings the longest day and the shortest night of the year, traditionally celebrated for life-giving light and warmth. This period of extended daylight may significantly affect our daily routines, mood, and cognitive functions. The extended daylight hours may lead to more significant engagement and learning opportunities for the community.

### Sunlight Effects on Learning

Research has shown how exposure to natural light may improve cognitive performance, motivation, and learning outcomes. Studies suggest students who receive more sunlight during their school day perform better academically. The summer solstice, offering the most sunlight, could be seen as an opportune time to harness these benefits for personal learning whole health and heal PTSD symptoms with PTSD Awareness Month with Twitter/X

### Data Science: Illuminating Insights Through Social Media

The integration of data science into social media platforms such as Twitter/X has opened new avenues for sharing knowledge and tracking the impact of awareness campaigns. With analyzing data from tweets and internet interactions, researchers may gauge the effectiveness of educational content and measure the collective understanding of health topics during PTSD Awareness Month and throughout the year.

Embracing Project-Based Inquiry Science for #communityhealth

In the realm of education, especially in the sciences, Project-Based Inquiry Science (PBIS) offers a dynamic curriculum to engage students in real-world problems and scientific inquiry. A lesson plan incorporating PBIS might unfold as follows:

1. **Introduction to PBIScience** (7 minutes)

Begin with a curriculum video to introduce the concept of PBIScience, highlighting the importance and relevance in today's educational landscape with the most recent videos available at https://www.google.com/search?q=project+based+inquiry+science&rlz=1C1AJZK_enUS769US769&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiGpL6fkOLYAhUFY6wKHU9eBTEQ_AUIDCgD&biw=1163&bih=590.

2. **Brainstorming Session** (30 minutes)

Engage students in brainstorming, encouraging them to envision real-world dilemmas and big ideas. Explore questions of knowledge, wonder, and learning. This stage sets the foundation for inquiry-based learning, where students are active participants in their education.

3. **Research and Exploration** (Duration varies)

Students delve into research, seeking out new information and methodologies to lead to innovative solutions. They evaluate their findings and choose a research-based outcome, followed by developing a step-by-step plan to achieve outcomes.

4. **Sharing and Collaboration** (23 minutes)

In this phase, students share their outcomes and the steps they took to reach them. This collaborative effort enhances learning and also contributes to #communityhealth with addressing real-world issues through scientific inquiry.

5. **Co-Creation of Solutions**

The #communityhealth goal is for students to apply their knowledge and research to co-create solutions to benefit #communityhealth with personal learning. This could involve projects to address environmental concerns, health and wellness, or technological advancements.

With integrating PBIScience into the learning process, educators may provide a stimulating learning experience to prepare students for the challenges of the future. This approach educates and empowers students to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.

Google Slides with Google Sheets may be valuable resources for recording and analyzing data, providing a platform for students and enthusiasts to engage with and maximize the effects of sunlight on personal learning. As we celebrate the longest day of the year, let us also celebrate the possibilities for learning.

The convergence of PTSD Awareness Month with the summer solstice presents a unique synergy. The increased sunlight uplifts spirits and also enhances learning capabilities, providing a fertile ground for education and awareness initiatives. As we embrace the warmth and light of the longest day, let us also shine a spotlight on the importance of health education and the role of data science in amplifying these messages for the betterment of society.

Personal Learning with Twitter/X for #communityhealth

Challenge of Love poem June 23, 2024

I grew up learning the math of zero
with 10, 100, 1000, 1,000,000
Now I finesse the zero with circle
with the faith in the power of ten
To be a set of positive energies
And may plunk me into zero
Or not

Between the tangible and intangible, the finite and infinite, the zero and the circle, we maneuver the concepts of numbers to fit our needs. The circle represents the unity of beginning and end and mathematically helps us to understand life's cycles, the ups and downs with the pursuit of love.

To be a "set of positive energies" suggests a choice to focus on the affirmative, to build upon the positives yet may encounter challenges along the way. Love can either return us to the starting point, the zero, or propel us forward. In love, as in mathematics, there are constants and variables, but the constants provide the foundation for exploration and growth.

In the grand equation of life, zero and infinity are not just numbers; they are the beginning and end of a continuum, the alpha and omega of our emotional spectrum with comfort in the constants, and to embrace the variables with courage and hope.

Love has no end because lives on in our hearts yet we can imagine nothing and zero and sleep and then hopefully remember when we wake up time for a new day.

I once knew a hospital
With compassion banners waving people in
Now glares and shudders

The Healing Power of Technology and the Arts for Veterans

Veterans Affairs hosted a special virtual discussion Outreach And Events | Virtual Discussion On Power Of The Arts And Music For Military & Veteran Families | Veterans Affairs (va.gov) focused on the role of the arts in enhancing the quality of life for military and veteran families. The arts provide a unique outlet for expression and understanding, offering solace and a sense of community to those who have served and continue to bear the invisible wounds of war with the transformative power of the arts and music in the lives of those who have given so much. I learned how music and art are ways to honor those who serve with music tours in places to boost morale and ways to share the joys of harmony with demos.

Criminal and Legal Policies to Reduce Overdose and Other Drug-related Harm webinar focused on the critical issue of reducing overdose and other drug-related harm through criminal and legal policies. The webinar was organized with the Network for Public Health Law's Harm Reduction Legal Project in collaboration with Change Lab Solutions and was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, highlighting the significant investment in public health and safety. The ChangeLabs mission is: "Healthier communities for all through equitable laws and policies." I learned the importance of how the criminal legal court system is motivated by an urgent need for change and helps to elevate voices. The HIV epidemic created urgent need for change with the bottom line of money and seems to be an affirmative action program with people trying to bridge or be a conduit for gaps between correctional health groups and medicaid groups with death rate being the strongest motivating factor. The label Substance Use Disorder has developed to help people understand hospital discharge planning difficulties with the incarceration discharge planning process. Incarceration discharge planning is supported with abstinence agreements with medicaid groups organized with funding once out of the correctional health minimal health care system. Important policy recommendations are: use of written agreements (MOUD), distribution of Narcan to prevent overdose, medicaid support within correctional facilities, strengthen use of Good Samaritan Laws, limit restrictive drug paraphernalia and drug possession laws. I feel encouraged to offer information to encourage evaluations of these policy choices to achieve goals.

Engaging the Media to Amplify Public Health Messaging (apha.org) webinar helped me to learn the importance of relationships and connecting with journalists with conversations, with logos, pathos, ethos with mission of to prevent. Promote and protect with 3 talking points, 3 data supports, 3 different ways with an interaction homework.

https://calaborlab.ucsf.edu/webinars hosted Workplace Mistreatment: Evidence of Prevalence, Antecedents, Impacts, and Intervention. I learned solutions are to have tertiary supportive training talking about rights to physical and mental health with organizational support with specific challenges with specific people.
